Why is there a Flurp or Netarx in meetings?
To enhance security and protect against AI-generated threats, Netarx automatically includes a security bot, known as Flurp, in all scheduled meetings. The function of this bot is to provide real-time deepfake detection and protection.
Understanding the Flurp Bot in Your Meetings
Function and Operation
The Flurp bot is integral to our security protocol. Its primary function is to capture specific metadata signals during a meeting. These signals are analyzed to identify anomalies consistent with deepfake activity, enabling proactive defense against this emerging threat vector.
To clarify its operational scope:
- Metadata Capture and Analysis of Video: Flurp is engineered to collect metadata while sampling the video for signals of deepfakes. It does not record, store, or analyze the audio or video content of your conversations (e.g. what is said or presented in the video). Its function is strictly limited to signal capture for security analysis.
- Comparison to Other Bots: The mechanism of adding Flurp to a meeting is similar to that of third-party applications for note-taking or transcription. For these applications to function, they must be present as a participant. Similarly, Flurp must be included in the meeting for the deepfake detection and protection systems to be active.
Control and Management
While the Flurp bot is a critical component of our security framework, control remains with the meeting organizer. The meeting host retains the administrative capability to remove the Flurp bot from any meeting at any time. However, it is important to note that removing Flurp will disable the deepfake detection and protection capabilities for the duration of that session.
